Hossein Azarnivand and Mohammad Ali Zare Chahouki

Artemisia sieberi is an endemic species which grows in many regions of Iran. The chemical variations in essential oil from the aerial parts of A. sieberi have been studied. Plant material has been harvested at elevation level in three regions of Iran (Vard-Avard, Garmsar and Semnan). Analysis of the essential oils by GC/MS helped in the identification of 51 components. The main components were camphor (51.6%), 1, 8-cineole (17.5%), camphene (11.64%) and α - pinene (5.04%). Aromatic polyacetylens have been characterized for the first time in this species
