Recycling of Harmful Weeds Through NADEP Composting.

An attempt was made to explore the possibilities for use of congress grass (Parthenium hysterophorus) and Bhang (Cannabis sativa) weeds as decomposing manure to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers in crop production. The experiment was conducted at the Horticultural Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut (U.P.) during the Year 2009-10 to evaluate the economics, viability and feasibility of NADEP compost prepared from Parthenium and Cannabis weeds. The experiment consisted five different treatments viz. N1 (Dry cutting of Parthenium), N2 (Green cutting of Parthenium), N3 (Dry cutting of Cannabis), N4 (Green cutting of Cannabis) and N5 (Normal NADEP-Control). The result obtained from the experiment indicated that the treatment N2 contained highest level of N, P and K, and cost of NPK were minimum @ Rs.2.14 Rs./ Kg. in same treatment....
