Zinc Supplementation Increases Food Intake and HDL-c and Decreases Platelets in Healthy Children

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of oral zinc supplementation on food intake, and biochemical and hematological parameters in healthy children. Fifty children of both genders, aged 8-9 years, were studied during a three-month period. The study was a randomized, controlled, triple-blind study that used non-probability sampling. The children were randomly assigned to the control (n=25, using placebo) and experimental (n=25, using 10 mg/day elemental zinc) groups.
